Synopsis
Told in another medium: the whole episode is what is heard inside a groove. The picture is a turning platter and a needle, always the same.
Plot
The rule, shown whole: a name is not written, it is cut, and it only exists while the needle runs it. That is why this world's archive is not a room of plates: it is a record. And how to undo it: lift the needle and what was sounding stops existing until it comes back down. What he wants, out loud before the forty eighth second: to hear his own. It is in there and he does not put the needle on it.
