What it recorded
Synopsis
The whole episode is the booth's own security recording: a locked off camera up in the corner by the speaker cone ceiling, looking down at the mixing desk and the door.
Plot
Dirty black and white, a time stamp burned into the corner, and jumps where the tape has eaten itself. That is what the shots describe: not a scene, a recording of a scene. Nobody frames anything, nobody cuts to anybody, and the two of them wander in and out of the bottom of the picture.

The security camera keeps running: the empty booth at night from above, the deck silent. The cat crosses the empty floor with something in its mouth and goes under the bottom shelf with it. On the record shelf one sleeve slides an inch out of the row on its own and stays there a long time, and then slides slowly back.
Trivia and continuity
This is where the season thread is paid. Kenya has been choosing a record without looking since the first episode of season one, and a different record has been playing every time. On the tape you can see why. Nobody says it out loud; she watches it happen and then watches it happen again. The price is hers alone: once she knows, she cannot go back to choosing without looking.
